4.6.3 Simulation: Number of Passes

In this section we provide some simulations supporting the remark provided in §4.4.4 on the bound for the number of passes of the scenario. It is out of the scope of this section to provide proof of that remark, however, we consider that these results provide enough justification for its application in this book. We use the same model for the generation of passes and consider the same practical and worst case scenarios used in previous subsections, although we extend their size by adding more entities according to the specifications provided in §4.6 for the two scenarios. We consider scheduling horizons varying from 1 to 30 days, for which we represent the number of passes for different sizes of scenarios. The results for the practical case are displayed in Fig. 4.15, and for the worst case in Fig. 4.16, showing approximately linear growth with T (keeping constant the rest of the parameters) for all cases. Linear growth for variations in | G | or | S | (regular spacing among curves) is only observed in the worst case scenario, due to the repeated orbits and positions.
